City Council Member Fran McGuire

Council Member Fran McGruire

Council member Fran McGuire did not grow up in Clemson, but he has been a resident of the City for over 30 years.

Fran has spent most of his life in academia. He received a Bachelor’s Degree from Cornell University, his MS from Penn State, and his PhD from the University of Illinois. Though none of Fran’s degrees were achieved at Clemson University, he is proud to be an honorary member of the Great Class of 1939.

For most of Fran’s working life, he has been a faculty member of Clemson University, working with a variety of departments and programs. He has worked with both the Department of Parks, Recreation, and Tourism and the Department of Public Health. He has also worked with the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute and the Pre-Collegiate Programs Office.

Prior to his election to Council, Fran was on the City’s Planning Commission for several years.

When he is not preparing for or attending City Council meetings, Fran enjoys reading, walking, and watching the Game Show Network.
